Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue EMS Captain Karin Halstead, on the left, stopped by FAITH Food Pantry on November 7, to touch base with Food Pantry President Lee Paulsen, third from left, and food pantry volunteers, ahead of this year's Fill The Fire Truck campaign. Ms Halstead has single-handedly organized the annual event for a number of years. She and other local firefighters will conduct the pre-Thanksgiving collection this year on Saturday, November 18, from 9 am to 2 pm. Firefighters will be accepting donations for FAITH Food Pantry during that time frame. Financial and food donations will be accepted, and then delivered to the food pantry that afternoon.
