Newtown High School's indoor track and field teams had standout performances in the State Open, at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven, on February 17.

Carly Swierbut was third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.26, and placed fourth in the 300 with a time of 40.70.

Swierbut was also part of the 4x400 relay team which placed ninth and set a school record in a time of 4:09.79. The relay also comprises Jackie O'Leary, Sarah Houle, and Grace Pettinelli.

Marley Marston was seventh in the shot-put event with a throw of 36-10.25.

Zach Crebbin placed third in the high jump competition, clearing the bar at 6 feet.

Katie Ryan was 12th in the pole vault by clearing 9 feet.

Brett Deri was 10th in the 55 hurdles in 8.16.

Christian Lestik has a PR in the 1000 as he finished 14th, clocking in at 2:38.24.
