To the Editor:

As 2019 approaches, we want to thank all of the 2018 volunteers, donors, sponsors, and stewards of Newtown Park & Bark for your contributions.

The saying “it takes a village” could not be more true. Although you might translate it to “it takes the PACK”… Park & Bark was blessed with an up swell of new volunteers who took action and bonded over cleaning up the park. You know who you are. As the year comes to a close, thank you hardly seems enough. Please know, no matter where you are from, you are all an important part of Park & Bark.

A special thank you to the, “core group,” of Park & Bark, which was established in fall 2009. The group still helps with their talents. Strutt Your Mutt has become a huge fundraiser, and without the time and donations of Canine Training and Behavioral Services, Mount Pleasant Hospital for Animals, Mutt-Mitt Intl, and Tiger Rose Labradors, the event would not be possible.

To Kim Jaeckel, Benay Yaffe, MaryAnn Viesto, Janice Butler, Theresa Ritchie, Kaki Taylor, Kathryn and Roo Simonds: thank you for all you do, from photographing and event posters to being the behind-the-scenes of the production.

RoseAnn Reggiano, assistant director of recreation for being the one who ties it all together. Amy Mangold, director of Parks and Recreation, who has supported the dog park. Carl Samuelson and his crew, who ensure the grounds are in working order. The Parks & Recreation Commission, the fellow residents who oversee our town parks with care and consideration to new and old ideas. Thank you all.

The Tenth Anniversary dog-walk on May 18th, 2019 is at Fairfield Hills. We hope you’ll join us. Have a happy holiday season.
