To the Editor:

I am writing to support Matt Mihalcik for District 2 Legislative Council in the upcoming November election.

Matt Mihalcik's approach to strengthen and preserve the quality of life in Newtown stems from his ability to build relationships with businesses and community members. As assistant vice president, branch manager, at the Newtown Savings Bank, Southbury branch, Matt has a strong reputation for building profitable relationships with businesses and listens to clients to meet their needs. Matt and his wife, Melissa (a lifelong Newtown resident), are small business owners in Sandy Hook. He understands the community as a professional, business owner, and resident.

I have come to know Matt through our volunteer work together. Matt cares about our community, and it shows by his record of involvement in Newtown. Matt serves as a volunteer on two appointed town commissions/boards, The CH Booth Library Board of Trustees and Economic Development Commission. He is the chair of the CH Booth Library Board development committee and also sits on the finance committee. In addition, he gives back to the community in which he works in volunteering on the Southbury Business Association (SBA) and is also a volunteer business mentor for SCORE, helping prospective business owners plan and start a business as well as help current business owners manage through growing phases.

Matt understands the need for a strong business infrastructure in Newtown. He believes support for local businesses, good roads and essential services, and quality schools make for healthy communities. He has pledged to listen to and truly represent the interests of people in District 2, not only to strengthen economic development in Newtown, but to enhance the quality of life of for all community members.

I believe Matt to be the most qualified candidate. Please join me in voting for Matt in the November election for District 2 Legislative Council. He's the best choice.
