Weller Foundation Honors NHS Students

In recognition of their exemplary achievements, four Newtown High School seniors were recently presented with awards by The Weller Foundation, Incorporated, at its Annual Awards Banquet on May 10 in the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University.

The recipient of the $500 Senior Science Award is Seth Guiterman, son of Mr and Mrs Robert Guiterman of Sandy Hook. This award was established in 1962 by the Foundation to honor an outstanding senior who has demonstrated the ability to achieve recognition in science. Seth will be attending Bowdoin College this fall.

The recipient of the $500 Eleanor F. Moore Business Awards is Christopher Piselli, son of Mr and Mrs Dan Piselli of Sandy Hook. This award was established in 1973 by the Foundation to honor an outstanding senior who has demonstrated the ability to achieve recognition in business. Christopher will be attending Bryant College this fall.

The recipient of the $500 Paul W. Communications Award is Shannon Solheim, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Solheim of Sandy Hook. This award was established in 1986 by the Foundation to honor an outstanding senior who has demonstrated the ability to achieve recognition in communications. Shannon will be attending Muhlenberg College this fall.

The recipient of the $2,500 Vincent A. Voccia Vocational Award is Jill Passaro, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Passaro of Newtown. This award was established in 1983 by the Foundation to be presented to a senior to assist in preparation for a vocational or technical career. Jill will be attending Naugatuck Community College this fall.
