With Colleen Kelly

SOUTHBURY — For anyone who is interested in poetry and/or has written a poem of their own, Dr Colleen Kelly will offer a program at Southbury Public Library, 100 Poverty Road.

The program will be in the library’s Kingsley Meeting Room on Tuesday, April 17, from 4 to 6 pm.

Dr Kelly will be sharing poems from her books As I Was Saying and I’ve Been Thinking as well as poems which have inspired her throughout the years. Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to bring their favorite poem or any poems they have written to share with the group.

Dr Kelly has been writing verse and poetry since childhood. She studied poetry under the Rev Alfred J. Barrett, SJ at Fordham University, who introduced her to 17th and 19th Century poets including her favorite, Gerard Manley Hopkins.

As I Was Saying is Dr Kelly’s first published collection of poems; however, she has been published in various journals and newspapers. Dr Kelly resides in Heritage Village in Southbury.

Registration is required for this program; call Southbury Library at 203-262-0626 extension 130.
