  • An Incredible Performance and Experience

    To the Editor:

  • Worth All The Work

    To the Editor:

We’re so fortunate, and so grateful, that The Newtown Bee spread the word about the August 31st Panacea and Friends Concert. Associate Editor Shannon Hicks took time to meet with us, listened patiently to our stories, and then wrote two amazing features.

Sometimes it’s difficult to get up in front of a crowd and make sure that everyone has a good time. Panacea has been blessed; the music might not always be perfect, but seeing everyone sing along makes us wish we knew all the words, too!

  • In Appreciation Of Jazz Band Directors

    To the Editor,

On behalf of all students in any of the four Newtown Public Schools Jazz Bands, I would like to thank all of our Jazz Band Directors. The directors of the Reed Jazz Ensemble are Phillip Beierle and Robert Nolte. The director of the Newtown Middle School Jazz Ensemble is Mark Mahoney. The director of both the Newtown High School Blue and Gold Jazz Ensembles is Kurt Eckhardt.

  • Ives Concert Park Partners With New Promoter

DANBURY — While we may not have seen the worst of winter yet, the board of directors at Ives Concert Park already is looking ahead to next summer. The outdoor concert venue on the Western Connecticut State University westside campus in Danbury has, since 1975, hosted an impressive array of classic rockers, up-and-coming indie artists, country crooners, and more. Now, thanks to a new partnership with New York City-based promoter The Bowery Presents, Ives Concert Park will be able to offer an even more impressive array of performers for its Summer Concert Series.
