  • Invention Convention Projects At St Rose

    St Rose of Lima School fourth grade students had projects on display in the school’s Gathering Hall on Thursday, February 26.

    The projects are part of the school’s round of the Connecticut Invention Convention, and four student finalists, selected by judges at St Rose, will go on to the state level of the Invention Convention.

  • The Top of the Mountain

    State Senator Tony Hwang learned when he was visiting with St Rose of Lima School preschool students, last Friday, that the sand in the “sand box” wasn’t sand at all. St Rose’s brilliant preschool teachers discovered a recipe on Pinterest to make moldable “sand” using flour and baby oil. I looked it up myself, and found the recipe is very simple: eight cups of flour and one cup of baby oil. Not only is the end result moldable, I understand it also softens hands.

  • St Rose School Students Participate In Field Day

    Seventh grade students at St Rose of Lima School were waiting at each station of the school’s Field Day on Monday, June 16.

    It is tradition at the school for the seventh graders to oversee the stations. New to this year’s field day were basketball and hockey stations, where participating students lined up to take their turns scoring.

    Across the field, at the school students also tested their aim by running to meet a moving soccer ball and kick it into the net.

  • St Rose Friday Bingo Night Returning

    A new season of St Rose Friday Bingo Nights will return on September 13 to the St Rose School Gathering Hall, 46 Church Hill Road.

    Doors will open at 5:45 pm, and Bingo games will run from 6:30 until approximately 9:30 pm. Designed for the Bingo enthusiast, evenings will feature substantial cash prizes for all games, as well as door prizes. There will be a concession offering dinner items and homemade baked goods, as well as complimentary coffee.

  • Bingo Finalé At St Rose, May 10

    The next St Rose Friday Bingo Night fwill be on May 10, which will also mark the final game night of the 2012-13 season.

    Games are played in the Gathering Hall of St Rose, at 46 Church Hill Road. Doors open at 5:45, and games run from 6:30 until around 9:30.

  • Borough Zoners Approve St Rose Church Projects

    Following discussion of technical issues, Borough Zoning Commission (BZC) members have approved construction projects for the St Rose of Lima Church campus on Church Hill Road.

    The BZC granted applicant St Rose Church Group approvals for two projects at the property at 38, 40, 42, and 46 Church Hill Road at a March 20 session, following a public hearing.

    For each project, the church received a special permit, a site development plan approval, and a Village District zoning approval.

    The next St Rose Friday Bingo Night for the 2012-13 season will be on April 12.
