  • Ceremony Marks Opening Of Holy Innocents Faith Formation Center At St Rose

    A dedication and blessing ceremony was conducted Saturday, June 7, for St Rose of Lima’s latest building, the Holy Innocents Faith Formation Center.

    The Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano, bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, presided over the blessing and dedication ceremony.

  • Special Holy Week Event Planned At St Rose

    On Wednesday, April 16, at 8 pm, the Mystery Players of Immaculate Heart Central High School in Watertown, N.Y., will present the Stations of the Cross in a very creative way at St Rose of Lima.

    The Mystery Players bring the stations to the modern level through the use of special lighting, music, pantomime, and paraliturgical readings. Using the sanctuary of the church as a stage, The Paschal Mystery is recreated in a moving, dramatic presentation.

  • Angel Of Hope Arrives At St Rose, Dedication Ceremony Planned

    Angels of Hope Inc’s website says their angels “serve as beacons of hope for those suffering from the emotional and physical absence of a child.”

    In October an Angel of Hope statue was delivered to Newtown. The angel has a face of a child and stands 4’ 3” with a wingspan of 5’ 2”. Inside its wing is written the word Hope.

  • Knights Of Columbus Present Monsignor Weiss With Caritas Award, $100,000 Donation For St Rose Parish

    Monsignor Robert Weiss, senior pastor of St Rose of Lima Church, and St Virgilius Knights of Columbus Grand Knight Timothy Haas stand at the lectern at St Rose Church Monday night. The men represented the church and the local Knights of Columbus Council, which were awarded the first Caritas Award by the Knights of Columbus. 

  • Shrine Dedicates Sandy Hook Memoriam Garden

    Monsignor Robert Weiss, second from left, the pastor of St Rose Church in Newtown, was the special guest on September 14 of the dedication of a Sandy Hook Memoriam Garden at San Silverio Shrine in Dover Plains, N.Y. On the left is Shrine Chaplain Fr Ciro Iodice, OFM, of San Silverio Shrine; second from right is Father Pio Mandato, FMHJ, a Franciscan priest in the Diocese of Scranton, Penn.; and on the right is Andrea Cerra, of San Silverio Shrine.

  • Monsignor Weiss Receives Inaugural Caritas Award From Knights of Columbus

    Monsignor Robert Weiss, pastor of St Rose of Lima Church, was the first recipient of The Caritas Awards from The Knights of Columbus. The new award to recognize extraordinary works of charity and service was presented to Msgr Weis, and then to the St Virgilius Knights of Columbus Council 185, on August 6. From left is Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, Msgr Weiss, St Virgilius Knights of Columbus Grand Knight Timothy Haas, Archbishop William Lori, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan.

  • A Milestone For The Monsignor

    Monsignor Robert Weiss, pastor of St Rose of Lima Church, was honored at the 40th anniversary of his ordination at a Mass celebrated on Sunday, May 19, at the church. Numerous dignitaries spoke at the event, which was followed by a reception. Shown at the altar following the Mass, are, from left, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, Newtown First Selectman Pat Llodra, Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti, Monsignor Weiss, Governor Dannel Malloy, and US Senator Richard Blumenthal. 

  • Monsignor Weiss To Be Honored At ARC’s 5th Annual "Keep The Faith" Celebration

    DANBURY — The Association of Religious Communities (ARC) has announced it will be honoring Monsignor Robert Weiss, the pastor of St Rose of Lima Church, during this year’s Keep The Faith Celebration.
