  • We Do Not Live In A City!

    To the Editor:

    I attended the public meeting on June 4th at the NHS lecture hall where Svigals + Partners unveiled their ostentatious plans for the new SHS. I was truly disheartened by the presentation, sitting for almost an hour while the project lead tried to explain how Sandy Hook got its’ name, how we are all part of the Earth and  that we are all part of the water in her best attempt to sell us their next colossal boondoggle.

  • Boards Preview SHS Renderings

    Ahead of an expected June 5 town presentation on the plans for Sandy Hook Elementary School, representatives of Svigals + Partners unveiled some of the first renderings of the new building during a Public Building & Site and Board of Education joint meeting Wednesday, May 14.

  • Valentines For Troops Effort Sending Local Love Overseas

    Prepared with love from Sandy Hook School students were 44 boxes of Valentine wishes and goods going to service men and women overseas.

    With the help of Newtown’s Post Master Cathy Zieff, Supervisor Richard Crowther, and postal carrier David Link, students, parents, and school staff on Friday, February 7, readied packages in an annual Valentines For Troops effort at Sandy Hook School, currently housed at Monroe’s Chalk Hill Middle School.
