To The Editor:

As I step down as the Chair of the Newtown Commission on Aging (my terms have ended) I would like to thank Natalie Griffith, Director of Human Services, Wendy Devereaux and Nicole Nicholson, Senior Center Assistants and all of the commissioners who have served during my tenure who have helped to make the commission meetings engaging, informative, companionable, and productive. I also want to congratulate the new officers: Pat Bailey, Chair, Dr Briana Garrison, vice chair; and Bill Darrin, treasurer. I look forward to coming back to the COA when I am eligible to continue working with commissioners.

Also, I want to give special thanks and kudos to Jenna Visca, the reporter who has covered our meetings in splendid fashion for several years. We look forward to her accurate, thorough and informative reporting for years to come. She is very special to our commission as she unfailingly represents our deliberations so that Newtown residents can appreciate the full range of topics that COA considers and acts on. Our meetings often feature guest speakers who address issues important to all seniors in Newtown. Her articles enable all seniors in our community to learn about the resources and services the town provides.

Thank you so much for your support. I am so lucky to live in Newtown!

Best wishes to all in the New Year.

Anne Rothstein
