Town of Newtown offices and agencies, including C.H. Booth Library and Newtown Senior Center, will be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day, a federal holiday.

There is no USPS delivery and post office counters will be closed. Post office box customers will be able to access their boxes. FedEx will have a modified service schedule. UPS pickup and delivery will be not be available; store locations may be open. The shipper suggests customers check directly with their local stores for service plans.

Schools will be closed for the day.

Most banks will be closed.

Most CT Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) services continue to be done by appointment only. Walk-ins are not allowed at service centers.

Courts will not be in session.

The office of The Newtown Bee will be open. Deadlines for the January 23, 2026 print edition of the newspaper are not affected.
