Possessed Offbeat Sense of Humor
Grace D. Miller, 76, most recently of Ashlar of Newtown, and formerly of French Street in Danbury, died January 8, surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with Alzheimerâs disease. She will be remembered by her family for her bright eyes, warm smile, and offbeat sense of humor.
Ms Miller was born December 20, 1929, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and moved to England as a child. As a young woman she served in the antiaircraft division of the Auxiliary Territorial Service of the British Army.
She is survived by her former husband and lifelong friend, Ken Miller of Danbury, and her four children, Sue Laurenzano of Naugatuck, Ferne and Mark Capellaro of Danbury, John Miller of Danbury, and Juliette and Sean Bradley of New Milford. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Daniel Laurenzano Miller, Amy Laurenzano Orschel, Janel Capellaro Blanding, Melissa Miller, Kimberly Capellaro, Kathryn Capellaro, Jessica Bradley, and Tyler Bradley. Two great-grandchildren, Julianna Blanding and Logan Orschel, survive her as well, as do her sisters, Merle Hansen and her husband, Trygve, of Wilton and Eunice Rowland of Southbury; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Freeman, formerly of Ives Manor in Danbury, and her sister Doreen Rowland, formerly of Branford.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, January 14, from 12:30 to 3 pm at the Green Funeral Home on Main Street in Danbury. A memorial service will immediately follow.
