Occupation: Iâm a database programmer and analyst for McKesson Corp in Norwalk, and I have a couple of other businesses. One is SuzDesign, a fine jewelry and crafts business. I make primarily silver and glass jewelry, photographs, and other handcrafted gift items. I teach a fused glass class at Brookfield Craft Center in Brookfield. My husband Kevin and I also own two home health care businesses, Connecticut Caregiver Connection and Danbury Nurses Registry, both in Danbury.
Family: My husband is Kevin Donohue.
Pets: We have two dogs, both rescue mutts. Ginger and Gretchen are both pit bull mixes. We got them about 10 or 12 years ago, when they were puppies, but theyâre still full of energy. And theyâll eat anything â socks, food, paper, chew toys. We have to watch everything.
How long have you lived in Newtown? We moved to Newtown in 2002. I grew up in Brewster, N.Y., and have lived in Danbury, Virginia, and Monroe before finally ending up here.
What do you like to do in your free time? The jewelry is what I like to do. I started producing so much stuff that Iâve been going to some craft fairs, and selling on eBay, and at the Brookfield Craft Center. We also ride motorcycles. I have a Harley and a Yamaha. I sing in The Legends of Connecticut band, a classic rock group. We play mostly in the Westport area.
Do you have a favorite place for riding motorcycles? I love to go up Route 133 around here. Itâs picturesque and peaceful. But we bring the bikes down to the Keys in Florida each year, and thatâs great. It never rains there.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? The Keys in Florida. Thatâs where I swear Iâm going to retire. Key West has such a nice artistsâ community.
What is the best thing about Newtown? Itâs country, but close enough to all the amenities. Itâs beautiful, with lots of open space.
If you could spend a day with anyone from history, whom would you choose? Maybe one for the Founding Fathers, like Thomas Jefferson. Iâd like to find out what did they really have in mind when they put this country together. What were they trying to create?
Do you have a personal philosophy? Relax and enjoy life, because itâs short. Always be the best you can be.
Do you have a guilty pleasure? I love food, any food! I love creamy sauces, and dishes like fettuccine Alfredo. But Iâm on a pretty strict, doctor-supervised diet now, so I can only indulge in those creamy sauces rarely. The good news is, Iâve lost 30 pounds.
