To the Editor:

I attend Newtown Middle School and am conducting a shoe drive to collect and deliver gently used shoes to third-world countries. Did you know almost 600 million shoes end up in landfills every year? With your help, we can change that.

I am running a used shoe drive, with a goal of collecting 10,000 pairs of shoes, and deliver those shoes to those in need. If each household provides just one pair of shoes, you can help me achieve my goal. If you have children in school, they can bring their shoes to drop boxes in their schools. If you don’t have children in school that is ok there are collection boxes located at the Municipal Center across from the Board of Education. During the week of January 24th to the 30th, there will be a collection box in the vestibule at St. Rose of Lima church, in Newtown.

Together, we can make a difference; a change in the environment; and ultimately help others in need. Please, take a few minutes from your day to drop off a pair of shoes and help me and those in need with your contribution.
