Lee R. Hossler
Lee R. Hossler, 85, of Stepney (Monroe), passed away January 6, 2026.
Born in Lititz, Penn., to Samuel and Elizabeth Hossler, Lee had a distinguished marketing career that began with Raybestos-Manhattan in Manheim, Penn., later bringing him to the company’s Trumbull headquarters. He went on to contribute his talents to Rudkin-Wiley in Stratford and Trans-Lux in Norwalk, where he worked until his retirement.
In retirement, Lee became a cornerstone of the Monroe community, serving on the Economic Development Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Save Our Stepney Task Force. He was the architect of many beloved traditions on the Stepney Green, including their annual tree lighting.
Lee was a man of diverse passions. An avid photographer, cyclist, and skier, he explored the world with an adventurer’s spirit. He famously shared these travels through hours of slide shows in his basement and public exhibits in Monroe. He was also known for his handmade holiday decorations that graced the corner of their property, bringing joy and smiles to all who passed by.
One of Lee’s greatest joys was found in his role as a grandfather. A constant and proud fixture in the Newtown sports and dance communities, he spent countless hours cheering from the sidelines of his grandson’s baseball and basketball games. He was equally devoted to his granddaughter, never missing a dance recital or competition.
Lee is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dorothy (Dotti); his son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Kim; and his cherished grandchildren, Madeline and Jakob.
Calling hours are planned for Friday, January 16, 4-7 pm, at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher and Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe.
A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, at 11 am, at United Methodist Church of Monroe, 515 Cutlers Farm Road in Monroe. Virtual attendance for the Celebration of Life is available via umcmonroe.org.
