Police Captain Joe Rios reminds motorists that the town has an ordinance that prohibits overnight parking on local roads from November 15 through March 15.
The law was enacted to make it simpler for town road crews to keep local streets plowed and clear of snow during snowstorms.
The parking ban prohibits parking on streets from sunset to sunrise.
Motorists who violate the parking ban are subject to ticketing and possible towing, the captain said. Parking tickets carry a $49 fine.
Keeping vehicles off the street overnight makes it much simpler for the town road crew to keep roads clear of snow by plowing, sanding, and salting, Capt Rios said.
Also, the captain reminds the public that state law prohibits property owners from plowing snow out onto streets or placing snow on streets, which causes traffic hazards.
Pushing snow onto roads can result in a $50 fine, he said.
