Tax Credits For Residential Historic Projects Panel Discussion Jan. 22

BRIDGEPORT — The State of Connecticut has recently made available up to $50 million in State Historic Tax Credits for the rehabilitation of commercial and industrial properties on the state or national registers of historic places into mixed residential and commercial properties.

This $50 million is in addition to an existing annual $15 million allocation of state tax credits for residential projects and the as-of-right, uncapped federal historic tax credit.

On Thursday, January 22, The Barnum Museum will host “Federal and State Historic Tax Credits,” a panel discussion to run from 3 to 5 pm. The panel will discuss how to access the federal and state historic tax credits and provide examples of projects that have used federal and/or state credits to finance redevelopment.

Panelists will include Al Shehadi from the National Trust Community Investment Corporation, located in Greenwich; Todd Doyle from Shipman & Goodwin, LLP, in Hartford; and Will Ingraham of GDC Properties, Inc, Hawthorne, N.Y.

Staff from the Connecticut State Historic Preservation Office will also be on hand to assist with inquiries about the state.

To register for the seminar or for additional information call The Barnum Museum at 203-331-1104, extension 101, or send email to DSaviello@barnum-museum.org. There is no charge to attend. Free parking is available in the People’s Bank Parking Garage.
