Daniel Wiener of Sandy Hook was among 25 students who earned diplomas at Marietta College’s December Convocation on Sunday, December 11, in Marietta, Ohio. Daniel completed requirements for the bachelor of science degree with a major in health sciences.

Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y., recently released the names of local residents that made its Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester. Students named on the list were Ann F. Hull, daughter of Margaret Hull and Jonathan Hull of Newtown, Andrew P. Nichols, son of Patricia and Craig Nichols of Newtown, and Kevin M. Rovelli, son of Ana Paula Machado and Daniel Rovelli of Newtown. A student must achieve a grade point average of 90 or above during the term to be placed on the Dean’s List at Hamilton College.

Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Penn., has released the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2011-12 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition. Emma K. Fiore, daughter of Terese and David Fiore of Newtown, was named on the list.

The University of Connecticut, Storrs, recently announced the students who attained the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester. To make the Dean’s List, students must take at least 12 credits, finish the semester with a grade point average that is among the top 25 percent of students enrolled in their school or college, and have no grade below a “C.” Newtown residents who were named on the list are Matthew Charles Baier, Brianna C. Barry, Rachel Leah Bolinsky, Douglas Edward Brodbeck, Kevin Robert Canavan, Andrew Joseph Carlisle, Samantha Jean Carlisle, Olivia Maria De Vivo, Nicholas Dinielli, Kevin Edward, Dufner, Jennifer Esther Durelli, Rachel Jane Fisher, Alexander James Fleming, Marie Christina Goyal, Mary Kate Hubbard, Andrew Brady LaMarche, Colleen Dempsey Lynch, Christina Alexandra Matsis, Jane Elizabeth Moran, Neyati Patel, Jaydev Patel, Patrick Daniel Pennarola, Sara Frances Piazza, Niall Mitchell Reynolds, Alyssa Marie Robinson, Christina Rose Sanchez, Colin James Smith, Colleen Elizabeth Thornberg, and Peter John Wlasuk. Sandy Hook residents who were named on the list are Kevin William Breuninger, Clarence Mangyee Cheung, Vincent Patrick Deangelis, Stephen Mark Ivan, Katherine Elizabeth Kelleher, Kaley Marie Kruger, Brian Michael Kuruc, Sarah Burr Lemien, Daniel J. Lynch, Paul Josef Melancon, Jessica Faye Thomas, Miryam Hannah Wilson, and Chelsea Rebecca Young.

Western Connecticut State University has released its Dean’s List for fall 2011 semester. Newtown residents named on the list are Matthew Siebert, Eric Nunes, Robyn Abbott, Kimberly Andrews, Theresa Bibeau, Erik Birden, Matthew Biscoe, Nicole Bounty, Vincent Brophy, Brett Burroughs, Christopher Cardelle, Katherine Caulfield, Caitlin Cocivi, Matthew Cole, Courtney Gesualdi, Meghan Graves, Sarah Hall, Kristina Hansen, Charles Hill, James Hilton, Zachary Kapple, Kelly Lindell, Lorrissa Lippi, Margaret Mcloughlin, Catrina Morgan, Thomas Mortensen, Zachary Richter, Nicole Scalora, Sarah Smith, Kelly Stendahl, Brian Straniti, Nancy Wilder, and Daniel Winkler. Newtown residents Nicole Barnhart and Joshua Engler were named on the fall 2011 semester’s Dean’s List at the State University of New York, New Paltz. Dean’s List designation is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade point average in a semester with a full-time course load at the university.

Keene State College, Keene, N.H,, released its Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester. Among the 1,501 students named to the Dean’s List are Newtown residents Kylie Bivrell-Walsh, Brendan Delohery, Alexandra Kirk, and Bethany-Laura Morin. Dean’s List designation is bestowed to those Keene State College undergraduates enrolled in a degree program who have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. A 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale is required to earn the Dean’s List honor at the college.
