Mary Calderara, 87, of Newtown, previously of Mount Vernon, N.Y., died January 14, at Bethel Healthcare Center.

Mrs Calderara resided in Mount Vernon until relocating with her family to Newtown in 1996. She lived with her son William Calderara and daughter-in-law Patricia Calderara, and her three beloved grandchildren. Before retiring to Newtown, Mary was a professional cook for the Franciscan Friars in Mount Vernon.

She was devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking and teaching others to cook. In addition to caring for her family, she was active with the Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends.

Her husband of more than 50 years, Charles Calderara, predeceased her on December 7, 2006.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated January 18. Interment was in St Rose Cemetery.
