'Native Plants And Their Use In The Landscape,' Next Garden Club Program
âNative Plants And Their Use In The Landscape,â Next Garden Club Program
The Garden Club of Newtownâs speaker for January is Lisa Toroczi, who will present âNative Plants and Their Use In The Landscapeâ on Tuesday, January 24, at 1 pm, in the first floor meeting room of Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.
Adding native plants to gardens brings numerous benefits. In her talk Ms Turoczi will explain the interdependent relationship between flora and fauna, and how that relationship is an integral part of designing with native plants.
There are few âwildâ places left in New England because most have been manipulated over time, which has caused a decline in the natural balance of our ecosystems. By learning how to observe the natural world around us, we can begin to understand the important dynamics that native plants play in their ecoregions.
Ms Turoczi and her husband Kyle own and operate Earth Tones Plant Nursery in Woodbury, which specializes in native plants. She has been in the landscape design business for over 20 years and has a degree in landscape architecture from SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse.
The program is open to the public and while there is no charge to attend, donations are appreciated. For more information call 203-512-7320.
