Merrick

Devoted, Loving Mother And Grandmother

Bernice N. Merrick, 69, of Danbury, died at Danbury Hospital, January 15. She was born in Danbury, daughter of Evelyn (McDonald) and John Nash.

She is survived by four children, including Brian Merrick, and wife Wendy, of Newtown; seven grandchildren, and several other relatives, including niece Jennifer Powers, and nephews Daren and Timothy Powers, great-nieces Madison and Julia Powers, and many cousins. She was predeceased by her infant daughter Barbara; a grandson, Brennan; and sister Eleanor Powers.

She was a graduate of Bethel High School, Class of 1959, and enjoyed planning numerous reunions with her classmates. She worked for many years as a local insurance agent and held various positions on the board of the Insurance Women of Greater Danbury.

She was a longtime communicant of St Joseph Church, Danbury.  Mrs Merrick had a love for spoiling her grandchildren and took her yearly vacations to Cape Cod with her children and grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Joseph Church in Danbury, on January 20. Burial was in St Peter Cemetery.

Memorial contributions Ms Merrick’s memory are requested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 200 Connecticut Avenue, Suite 5H, Norwalk CT 06854.
