Ambulance Corps Plans EMT Course
Ambulance Corps Plans EMT Course
Beginning February 2, an emergency medical technician (EMT) course will be taught at the Newtown ambulance garage on Mondays, Thursdays, and every other Saturday.
The course is $450, which includes all necessary equipment to take the class. Upon successful completion of the 130-hour course, participants will be ready to test for the National Registry State Certification which would enable them to work or volunteer as an EMT>
Anyone who is interested in an exciting and challenging course should call Deb Aubin at 426-6874 to register.
Newtown Ambulance is still a volunteer corps, and one of the few ambulance corps in the area that still does not charge for emergency transport. As Newtown grows, ambulance calls increase, and membership is a premium, especially for daytime volunteers.
The ambulance corps hopes to increase its membership by teaching interested people and encouraging their participation. Exciting changes have happened to encourage active participation within the corps. Moms are especially encouraged to join and form a daycare network among themselves to enable them to join and help provide daytime ambulance services.
