BPW To Host Martial Arts Program
Master Songâs Martial Arts School will conduct a Tae Kwon Do demonstration at the Newtown Business and Professional Womenâs Club meeting on Monday, February 2.
The demonstration will include Grand Master Song, Master Song and several students ranging in ages from four to 63.
Grand Master Song is a ninth degree black belt and founder of Master Songâs Martial Art School. He has spent more than 40 years teaching and is the former chief Tae Kwon Do instructor of the Korean Special Army Air Force (Green Berets). Grand Master Song is currently serving as a judge on the Olympics USTU Championship. Â
The five principles of etiquette, modesty, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit form the basis of Tae Kwon Do. Rather than encourage aggression, martial arts helps individuals channel energy into socially acceptable forms of friendly competition and personal competence. The benefits of this historical art include flexibility and stamina, self-defense skills, stress reduction, strength of character, and discipline of mind and body.Â
The dinner meeting will be held at 6 pm at the Fireside Inn in Newtown. Cost per person is $25. RSVP to Laura Mayer at 426-8669 no later than January 30. Include a choice of entrée; chicken piccata, baked stuffed filet of sole, or pasta primavera.
