Fog, Snow And Leaves At Burnham

BRIDGEWATER — “Fog, Snow and Autumn Leaves,” a collection of photography by J.Y. Hsu of Brookfield, will be displayed at Burnham Library in Bridgewater during the month of February. There will be a reception at the library on Main Street to which the public is invited on Sunday, February 4, from 2 to 4pm.

Regular library hours are Tuesday, 1 to 5 pm; Wednesday, 9 am to 5 pm; and Saturday, 9 am to 1 pm. The library can be contacted at 860/354-6913.

Mr Hsu is a graduate of National Taiwan University, Taipei. He also holds a master’s degree in food service from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is retired from Nestle’s of New Milford, where he was a prizewinner for innovation in his field.

Mr Hsu has been a photographer and artist for forty years. His first award was an honor for his art at Taipei University. His photographs and biography appeared in The New York Times in 1987. That publicity led to his second part-time career as a freelance baseball writer for The World Journal, a Chinese language newspaper in New York City.

Mr Hsu has exhibited and won prizes for his art at Bridgewater and Goshen fairs, and “Best of Show” in 1999 at New Milford Historical Society. His work has been displayed at Gregory James Gallery, New Milford; Framing Gallery, Ridgefield; The Framing Shop, Westport; and Housatonic Art League, New Milford.
