Hawk Swimmers And Divers Take On Pomperaug
Newtown High School’s boys’ swimming and diving team visited Pomperaug of Southbury and lost 98-83 on January 20. The Nighthawks had some strong swims and dives in the defeat.
Elias Kolb, Finn Clancy, Kyle Albrecht, and Warren Ache finished the 200 yard medley relay race in second place with a time of 1:48.99.
Alex Gadbut won the 700 freestyle in 1:51.70. Albrecht was second in the 200 individual medley race in 2:21.87. Ache was first in the 50 free in 23.94.
Diver Trenton Story was fourth with a score of 166.35.
Albrecht took second in the 100 butterfly in 59.72. Clancy was second in the 100 free with a time of 52.90. Gadbut won the 500, making his final touch in 5:06.38.
The 200 free relay was first as Ache, Albrecht, Clancy, and Gadbut finished in 1:35.09.
Sam Irving was third in the 500 with a time of 5:40.28. The 400 free relay of Kolb, Connor Kelly, Irving, and Gadbut placed third in 3:54.75.
