Ingrid B. Schneider
With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our cherished sister, Ingrid B. Schneider, on Friday, January 9, 2026.
Ingrid was born in New York City on September 11, 1959 to the late Joseph and Margaret Schneider. She attended Danbury Public Schools until our parents built the family’s permanent home in Sherman.
Following her graduation from New Milford High School, Ingrid began her professional career with Brady Culhane Travel in Danbury. In 1986, she began a new chapter in California, where she built a successful and fulfilling career in corporate event planning.
In 2007, Ingrid left the corporate world and returned home to Connecticut. She opened her first entrepreneurial venture, Artrageous, a pottery and glass fusion studio, and later became the owner of Villarina’s Pasta Shop of Newtown. For the last seven years, the Pasta Shop was Ingrid’s pride and joy — she delighted in forming relationships with members of the Greater Newtown community.
Ingrid had a zest for life. She traveled extensively in her earlier years for work and pleasure. She was an avid tennis player and fan. As an arts and crafts hobbyist, Ingrid shared her creativity each Christmas by making a unique, personalized ornament for every family member — gifts that are cherished for their thoughtfulness and love. She was also a talented and adventurous cook who loved testing new recipes and cooking for friends and family. Over the years, Ingrid became well known for her meals and desserts, often receiving requests to bring specific dishes to gatherings and share her recipes.
Giving back to her community was central to who Ingrid was. While living in California, she helped organize and lead Daffodil Days and Relay for Life events in support of the American Cancer Society. As a small business owner, she strongly believed in supporting her community by donating her goods and services, uplifting others, and celebrating the success of those around her.
Ingrid formed lasting friendships everywhere she lived, worked, and played. She was a true friend — warm, welcoming, and kind — making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. Above all, time spent with family and friends was deeply important to her and brought her immense joy and happiness.
Ingrid was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Schneider; and her beloved dog, Pepper.
She is survived by her siblings: Mary (Karen Berwick), Stephen (Christine Malone), Michael (Cindy), and Marlene McGrade (Sean); her cherished nieces and nephews, Tom, Max (Amanda), Maddie (Sam), Tommy, Abby, Clare, Kate, and Kieran; and her great-nephew, Jack, and great-niece, Scottie.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown.
Friends will be received from 10 am to 11 am on Saturday, March 21 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Ingrid’s memory be honored by supporting local small businesses and helping those in need.
