Emil L. Lucas, 90, a resident of Garland, Maine, died January 24, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 28, 1920, in Bridgeport, the son of Mary (Bizak) and John Lukacs.
Mr Lucas was a former resident of Newtown, for 30 years, where he enjoyed many years as manager of Newtown Little League teams.
He is survived by his children, Wayne Lucas of Newtown, Linda Clewley, and her husband Rob, of Garland, Maine, Bob Lucas, and his friend Holly Bryer, of Millerton, N.Y., John Lucas, and his wife Debra, of Brookfield, and Kate Stiles, and her husband Jeff, of Benton, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Mr Lucas was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Elenore (Costigan) Lucas; and 11 siblings.
Mr Lucas proudly served in the US Army, 86th Infantry, Blackhawks, in World War II. After a long career in credit management, he pursued his interest as an avid gardener, and at the age of 82, opened Grampaâs Green House in Garland.
A memorial Mass was scheduled for Saturday, January 29, at St Maryâs Roman Catholic Church, St Paul the Apostle Parish, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor, Maine, at 11 am.
