Performer of the Week . . .

 

Kane Kunst, who has consistently been a double-winner for the Newtown High School swim team this winter, came within 19/100ths of a second to eclipsing the school record in the 500-yard freestyle during Newtown’s non-league meet against Watertown last Friday. Kunst came in first in 5:04.95, just short of the record of 5:04.76. The thing that probably kept Kunst from breaking the mark, perhaps, is that he had no one pushing him in the event – he won by nearly 50 seconds.
