Special Guest Joseph Genualdi —

GBYO Concert Will Celebrate Music Director/Conductor’s 20th Anniversary

BRIDGEPORT — On Sunday, February 11, Joseph Genualdi will perform with Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestra during its celebration of Robert Genualdi’s 20th anniversary as GBYO music director.

Joseph Genualdi, a former Weston resident and Robert Genualdi’s son, will perform Winter from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto in G minor with the GBYO Principal Orchestra.

Joseph Genualdi is one of the most highly respected chamber musicians of his generation. He is currently artistic co-director and violinist of Chicago Chamber Musicians.

Over 200 young people (including Newtown and Sandy Hook Principal Orchestra members Geoff DiBenneditto, Sheila O’Connor and Christopher Thibdeau) who make up the four orchestras of GBYO will perform in the February 11 concert. In addition to the pieces performed by Mr Genualdi, the program will include works by Wagner, Offenbach, Mahler and Rimsky-Korsakov.

The concert will begin at 3 pm and will be performed at Bridgeport’s Central High School, at 1 Lincoln Boulevard. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and students. Contact GBYO executive director Barb Upton at 203/452-0003 for more information.
