WINDSOR – Do you manage your farm in an environmentally-sensitive way?

Well, then, get recognized for it with a Horse Farm of Environmental Distinction Award. The program is sponsored by the Horse Environmental Awareness Program (HEAP) and funded by a grant from the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service.

Judges will conduct a site visit for all applicants and will look for such things as manure composting, covered manure piles, piles and paddocks with proper setbacks from streams and ponds, pasture rotation practices, and roof gutters to prevent erosion.
