Richard J. OâDonnell, 84, of Bridgeport, died January 21, at Bridgeport Hospital. Mr OâDonnell was born in Seaside Village in Bridgeport, where he resided all his life.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Harriet (Larkin) OâDonnell of Bridgeport; five devoted children, including Eileen Palmer and her husband, John, of Sandy Hook; four cherished grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was a former member of the Stratford VFW. He was a retired custodial supervisor for the City of Bridgeport Board of Education, where he worked for more than 33 years.
Mr OâDonnell was an usher at St. Georgeâs Catholic Church. He was an avid reader, former Little League coach, and longtime Boston Red Sox fan.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Bridgeport Hospital Shrine 7 for their care and compassion.
Funeral services were January 25. Interment was in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
