Utility HQ Will ‘Go Red’ Through Heart Month

BERLIN (AP) — Connecticut’s largest utility operator is bathing the tops of its buildings in red light as part of a national awareness campaign about women’s heart health.

Northeast Utilities says beacons atop its Berlin and Hartford buildings will glow red through February 24 as part of the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign.

The company started lighting the beacons last week at its downtown Hartford headquarters and the Berlin Turnpike offices of its subsidiary, Connecticut Light & Power.

The “Go Red for Women” campaign educates people about the warning signs and symptoms of heart disease. Since 2004, landmarks and attractions including the Empire State Building and Niagara Falls have been lit in red in support of the campaign.
