To The Editor:

I’m 28 years old, have lived in Newtown for 4 years, and it’s clear our State Representative isn’t listening to people like me anymore.

This is why Brandon Moore’s campaign feels like a jolt of electricity.

For young people, the stakes are clear. We want strong schools that prepare youth for success. We want housing that’s actually affordable — without living paycheck to paycheck. We want leaders who take gun violence seriously. And yes, we want a State Representative that actually believes in climate change, and is willing to do something about it.

Brandon is different because he does not accept the tired status quo. He does not tell us to wait our turn or to lower our expectations. All of this matters to a generation that has been priced out and ignored for too long.

This is the first candidate I’ve seen who genuinely excites young people. Brandon makes local politics feel relevant, inspiring those around him to get involved. I have watched friends who never cared about local politics and elections start volunteering and paying attention because of him.

Brandon was at the Free America Walkout losing his voice while standing up against ICE violence. This is the type of person we need in Hartford.

Lastly, Brandon is a combat veteran, earning a Bronze Star fighting terrorists. I almost feel bad that Mitch Bolinsky has to run against him. Brandon fought for our country, and now he wants to fight for Newtown. We have an exciting future ahead of us!

Now more than ever, we need a fighter in Hartford. We need someone willing to challenge what’s broken and demand better.

Newtown, we deserve better. Brandon Moore makes me believe we can achieve it.
