BRIDGEPORT â Dr Stuart Zarich, chief of cardiology at Bridgeport Hospital, will be the speaker February 14 at the 20th anniversary celebration of Heart Beats, Bridgeport Hospitalâs cardiac patient support group. His topic will be âWhy Did I Have My Heart Attack? â New Insights into the Prevention of Coronary Disease.â
The meeting is free and open to the public, and starts at 7:30 pm in the hospitalâs second floor cafeteria. Free parking is available in the hospital garage outside the main entrance. For information, call 203/384-4441.
Heart Beats was established in 1981 to provide educational and emotional support to cardiac patients, and fundraising support to the Heart Center at Bridgeport Hospital. It has raised more than $150,000 in the last two decades to help purchase equipment for heart patients and fund staff education programs. Membership has grown from six founding couples to nearly 400.
The Heart center at Bridgeport Hospital provides a comprehensive range of cardiovascular services, including one of only six open-heart surgery programs in Connecticut, angioplasty, sophisticated heart rhythm care, and cardiac rehabilitation and wellness programs.
