Raymond A. Reilly

Raymond A. Reilly, 87, of Ansonia, and husband of Dorothy Bulmer Reilly, died January 22. He was born in Boston on October 1, 1916, son of the late Daniel J. Reilly, Sr and Eva Doucette Reilly, and resided in Ansonia since 1986, having previously lived in Shelton.

Mr Reilly retired from Sikorski Aircraft, Stratford, as a senior technical writer. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps and continued his service in the US Air Force Reserve, retiring in 1972, with the rank of major.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, James P. Reilly and his wife Suzanne of Newtown, and Steven M. Reilly of Derby; a daughter, Janice M. Dorosh and her husband Joseph of Ansonia; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel J. Reilly, Jr; and his sisters,  Mabel A. Patterson and Genevieve Hurley.

He was a parishioner of Assumption Church, Ansonia, a member of St Mary’s Men’s Club of Derby, a member of AMVETS, a former Scout leader with the Housatonic Council Boy Scouts of America, veteran member of Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co of Shelton, a coach of the Cresents Shelton Little League team, a life member of Bernardo Council Knights of Columbus, 1351, Shelton, a life member of Bishop John J. Nilan Assembly Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, also a charter member of the Nathan Hale Chapter of the Retired Officers Association and the Air Force Association.

Funeral services were held January 26 from the James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Avenue, Shelton, and in Assumption Church. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Church Memorial Fund or Hospice and Palliative Care, Shelton, through the funeral home.
