Red Cross Training Programs

 NEW HAVEN — The South Central Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross is currently accepting registrations for year 2004 Certified Nurse Assistant Training and Phlebotomy/EKG Training classes.

 The Certified Nurse Assistant Training Program provides information and skills that will enable nurse assistants to provide quality care for residents in nursing homes, as well as supplemental information and skills that will enable them to provide quality health care for clients at home and patients in hospitals. Both day & evening classes are available.  The Red Cross has the lowest tuition in the area and a flexible payment plan is available.  Certified Nurses Assistant Training courses are offered at the following locations:  American Red Cross, 703 Whitney Avenue, New Haven; Grand Professional Building, 182 Grand Street, Suite 317, Waterbury; University of Bridgeport, Health Science Building, 60 Lafayette St, Bridgeport; 205 Burnside Avenue, Suite 202, East Hartford.

 The Phlebotomy/EKG Training Program is a six-week program with all classes held in the evenings. Classes will only be offered at the American Red Cross, 703 Whitney Avenue,  New Haven. Clinical work will be scheduled during the 7th through 11th week of the program.  This course provides information and skills that will enable the student to collect blood specimens for laboratory analysis to diagnose, and monitor medical conditions.  The EKG component will aid the student in the proper and correct technique of setting up, recording, and performing an EKG to patients within the hospital and/or clinical setting.
