Plans Unveiling Of Logo
The logo committee for Newtownâs tercentennial met at the Cyrenius H. Booth Library to discuss the official presentation of the tercentennial logo.
The committee agreed to conduct an open-to-the-public presentation at the Town Hall, with cost covered by a sponsor to underwrite expenses.
Committee member Frank Gavel suggested that by opening the event to the entire town, the public would feel a part of the tercentennial. Sandy Motyka added that it would also generate a lot of interest in the townâs history and the upcoming tercentennial. Along with inviting elected town officials, Ms Motyka also suggested welcoming area groups including the Boys and Girls Scouts of America.
The committee also discussed the possibility of having a drawing for one of the guest presenters. Mr Kotch said that an old covered bucket might be set up in the lobby of the town hall, so that town residents could submit their names if they were interested in actually participating with the unveiling. Residency in Newtown would be the only requirement and it would be open to all ages. Therefore, it would be possible for a youngster or an oldster to be selected for the auspicious task of unveiling the logo, along with town officials and/or commission members.Â
Further discussion on other possible ideas will be brought up at the next meeting scheduled for February 11.
