Tibetan Buddhist Monks To Offer Prayers
Tibetan Buddhist Monks To Offer Prayers
WOODBURY â On Friday, February 6, five Tibetan Monks from Drepung Gomang Monastery in South India will offer a cultural program of prayers for world peace, healing, and prosperity. Chanting in traditional overtones, each monk creates a full chord of three notes, often accompanied by delicate hand gestures, cymbals, drums, horns, and flutes.
All are invited to attend and enjoy a sublime experience of mystical prayers, chanting, and spiritual wisdom.
Fridayâs event will begin with the monksâ prayers at 6:30 pm. Participants will then have an opportunity to meet the monks during an informal question and answer session. Children and families are welcome.
An $11 donation is suggested to help support the monksâ Tibetan monastery-in-exile in South India and preserve the endangered Tibetan culture. Every year additional monks escape from Tibet seeking refuge in the monastery.
