Garden Club Will Look At Birds
Of CT Through The Seasons
The Town & Country Garden Club will host a program developed by The Audubon Society, âConnecticut Birds Through the Seasons,â during its February meeting. The club will be meeting at Newtown Senior Center, on Riverside Road in Sandy Hook, on Wednesday, February 14, at 7:30 pm.
Guest speaker Betty S. Kleiner will present the program. Non-members are welcome to attend the meeting free of charge.
Mrs Kleiner began serious birding in 1962. Since then she has been president of Hartford Audubon Society (1971-73), and also chair of the Hartford clubâs sanctuaries committee (1973-91). She has been editor of The Connecticut Warbler, the quarterly journal of Connecticut Ornithological Association, since 1985.
She was president of Simsbury Garden Club from 1996-98, corresponding secretary of the board of Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut from 1998 to 2000, and is currently serving as the state clubâs conservation and preservation chairman.
Mrs Klein and her husband are avid birders. They travel across the United States as well as Central and South America to look at birds and other wildlife.
