Newtown’s biggest celebration of the arts is back — 2026 marks the 13th year of Newtown Arts Festival.

The three-day event is set for September 18-20 on the grounds of Fairfield Hills.

Festival Volunteer Coordinator Alexa Skalandunas is actively recruiting help for the massive three-day event.

What began as an experiment to raise money for scholarships for graduating seniors and grants to Newtown artists, Newtown Arts Festival has become one of the region’s most successful events.

“Music, art, dance, music, family fun activities, artisans and food, the Festival offers it all,” Skalandunas noted.

With just eight months to go until the festival, the Arts Festival Planning Committee is seeking volunteers to join the committee as well as do marketing promotions, social media support, and sponsorship outreach. And, of course, volunteers for the days of the festival.

For their three-hour stint September 18-20, volunteers receive entry to the festival on the day they volunteer and a T-shirt with the festival artwork on it.
