Dramatic Story Of The Sinking Of Titanic
Is Coming To Foxwoods Resort Casino
MASHANTUCKET â On April 15, 1912, RMS Titanic, the worldâs largest ship, sank after colliding with an iceberg, claiming more than 1,500 lives and subsequently altering the worldâs confidence in modern technology.
Nearly 100 years later, Foxwoods Resort Casino will pay tribute to the tragedy which continues to resonate through âTitanic: The Artifact Exhibition,â where more than 125 legendary artifacts conserved from the shipâs debris field will be showcased, offering visitors a poignant look at the iconic ship and its passengers.
The exhibition has been designed with a focus on the legendary RMS Titanicâs compelling human stories as best told through an extensive collection of authentic artifacts and room re-creations. Perfume from a maker who was traveling to New York to sell his samples, china etched with the logo of the elite White Star Line, even several never-before-seen artifacts including a hair comb and glass box â these and many other authentic objects offer haunting, emotional connections to lives abruptly ended or forever altered.
Upon entrance into the exhibition area, visitors are quickly drawn back in time to 1912, as each receives a replica boarding pass of an actual passenger aboard Titanic. They then begin their chronological journey through the life of Titanic, moving through the shipâs construction, to life on board, to the ill-fated sinking and amazing artifact rescue efforts. They will marvel at the re-created First and Third Class Cabins, and press their palms against an iceberg while learning of countless stories of heroism and humanity.
Visitors will also experience the âMemorial Galleryâ where they will take their boarding pass to the memorial wall and discover whether their passenger and traveling companions survived or perished.
âTitanic: The Artifact Exhibitionâ has been viewed by more than 22 million people in major museums worldwide, from Chicago and Los Angeles to Paris and London. RMS Titanic, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Premier Exhibitions, Inc., is the only company permitted by law to recover objects from the wreck of Titanic. The company was granted Salvor-in-Possession rights to the wreck site of Titanic by a United States federal court in 1994 and has conducted seven research and recovery expeditions to Titanic rescuing more than 5,500 artifacts.
âTitanic: The Artifact Exhibitionâ will open on Saturday, February 13, in Foxwoods Resort Casinoâs Great Cedar Exhibition Area, and will remain on view daily until Sunday, June 13. Hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 am to 8 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11 am until 10 pm.
Tickets are $20 ($18 for Foxwoods cardholders), $15 for ages 3-12. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting foxwoods.com/titanic.aspx.
