‘Fresh Pics: Contemporary Art In Connecticut’

RIDGEFIELD — The public has have the opportunity to explore the trends in the Connecticut contemporary art scene with “Fresh Pics,” an exhibition of the work of up to 50 artists in the state and beyond. The collection, curated by Camilla Cook, is being presented by The Ridgefield Guild of Artist until February 20.

A celebration of artists living and working in Connecticut and beyond, “Fresh Pics” offers an insider’s view into an impressive and diverse selection of contemporary artwork found in the region. The survey exhibition brings together 50 artists, their diverse styles and a variety of media including painting, works on paper, photography and sculpture. Among those to have work selected for the exhibition is the Newtown based artist DeAnn Prosia.

The artists included in “Fresh Pics” hail primarily from Connecticut, as well as New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

The exhibition was curated by Camilla Cook, an artist consultant and independent curator who works closely with artists and cultural organizations throughout the region. Ms Cook has partnered with the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, an organization that is committed to promoting the visual arts and arts education. This partnership underscores the strong support for artists within our region as well as resources available for aspiring to mid-career artists.

Camilla Cook and the RGA will also host “Resources & Opportunities for Artists,” a panel discussion featuring area art organizations and a tour of the exhibition on Saturday, February 6, at 2 pm. This event is open to the public and will be held at the RGA gallery. In the event of inclement weather, snow date will be Sunday, February 7.
