Dianne Elizabeth Waychowsky Dixon, 55, of Glastonbury, died January 15 after a long, courageous battle with cancer and its complications.
She was born March 12, 1948, in White Plains, N.Y., daughter of Katherine (Brauman) Waychowsky of White Plains and the late Patrick S. Waychowsky. She had lived in Glastonbury since 1974.
As a senior in high school, she moved to Newtown to attend agricultural classes residing with her aunt and uncle, Stella and Mike Krauss of Brushy Hill Road.
She attended Woodbury High School as an honor student and continued on to the University of Connecticut where she received her BS in agriculture, food science, and nutrition. She spent many years in the meat and food service industry, most recently as food service supervisor at the Jefferson House in Newington in addition to her regular job as a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
She was a communicant of St Augustine Church and had been active in parish programs most notably running bread programs for those in need.
She will be fondly remembered by South Glastonbury residents as the friendly mail carrier with 15 years of excellent service. Her dedication to her customers is unsurpassed and she was blessed by those who contributed meals and transportation as it became necessary.
She wished to give special thanks to those who reached out to her in her time of need, Rev Bill McCarthy of My Fatherâs House in Moodus and Sheila Kliczewski, who gave undying support through her ordeal.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held January 19 at St Augustineâs Church, South Glastonbury. Memorial donations may be made to My Fatherâs House in Moodus, or to Protectors of Animals, PO Box 24, South Glastonbury CT 06073
