Up To The Challenge: Nighthawk Wrestlers Stand Out At Southington Event

Newtown High School’s wrestling team traveled to Bethel for a South-West Conference dual on January 28. The Nighthawks dominated the Wildcats with a 51-24 win. Noah Blair, Owen Blair, Ty Jorgenson, Ryder Symes, Antonio Arguello, Troy DaSilva, and Jake Maddox all notched wins by pinfall.

Newtown then competed at the Connecticut Challenge at Southington High on January 31. The team took sixth place out of 19. Captain Jake Maddox won his fourth consecutive tournament and captain Antonio Arguello earned the fastest pin award at the tournament. Place winners are as follows:

First place: Jake Maddox in the 175 pound weight division; third place: Antonio Arguello (157), Noah Blair (106), and Ryder Symes (144); fourth place: Rion Lena (190); and sixth place: Owen Blair (113) and Ty Jorgenson (138).
