Many entities will be affected by Presidents’ Day, a federal holiday, on Monday, February 16.

All Newtown town offices will be closed. The transfer station on Ethan Allen Road, usually only available for contractors on Mondays, will be closed.

Newtown schools are scheduled to be closed Friday, February 13 through Tuesday, February 17 for winter break. Classes will resume Wednesday, February 18.

The US Postal Service will be closed on Presidents’ Day. There is no mail delivery.

Presidents’ Day is also a Federal Reserve Bank holiday, so banks will be closed.

The office of Bee Publishing Company, at 5 Church Hill Road, will be open. Deadlines for the February 20, 2026 print edition of The Newtown Bee will not be affected.
