Occupation: I am a business owner, consultant, and coach working with people who want to explore new directions. My company is The Entrepreneurâs Source, email: esourcect@earthlink.net. Our process provides prospective entrepreneurs with the tools, services, and support system they need to explore various options. When I was at Providence College in Rhode Island, I majored in psychology. My clients and I focus on what a career change might mean in their lives, and how fear of change may be an obstacle to overcome. We have good discussions around the acronym F(false) E(evidence) A(appearing) R(real). I will be talking more about this when I give a program on âHow To Start A Businessâ at the Booth Library soon. It is scheduled for Thursday, March 10. Before owning the business, I was an English teacher for nine years in the Brookfield School System.
How Long In Newtown: I grew up in Ridgefield, but I have lived in Newtown for five years. It feels more like home all the time, and I am experiencing much about this town through the lives of my kids.
Family: My wife, Laurie, is a kindergarten teacher in Brookfield. We have two sons, Ryan, 8, and Kyle, 6, who are both Cub Scouts and who both attend Middle Gate School.
Hobbies: I like to play guitar, I like to cook, and I am a sub in a basketball league. Other than that, playing with my kids is my biggest hobby.
Pets: Two fish and thatâs it.
Favorite TV Show, Movie, Book: What I read is mostly business related and nonfiction. One favorite author is Steven Covey, who writes on self-improvement.
On TV, I mostly watch sports to see whatever game is on ââ but mostly Iâm not into TV. I do enjoy Desperate Housewives and Arrested Development now and then.
Organizations: I belong to the local Chamber of Commerce and as a parishioner at St Rose, I teach CCD. I work with 16 wonderful children in first grade Sunday School.
Most Vivid Memory About Newtown: The Labor Day Parade is always wonderful. I try to enjoy all of Newtownâs rich traditions throughout the year, and if I miss one event one year Iâll try to catch it the next year.
Favorite Vacation Spot: We love the West Coast of Florida, where we visit my father-in-law living in Bradenton. In July, we go to Boston or to the Cape.
Personal Philosophy: When I was teaching at the St Francis School in New Mexico as a Catholic missionary, I learned to love the Prayer of St Francis: âLord, make me an instrument of your peace.â I also think that in my business, it is best to remember that you get everything you want if you help others get what they want.
