Bird Count
Just in time for the Great Backyard Bird Count, the maker of the Audubon Guide series of birds apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch has released a list of âhow-toâ tips that will help even the most novice birder take part in the 13th annual count.
Organized by the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and taking place February 12 to 15, the Great Backyard Bird Count encourages bird watchers of all ages and skill levels to contribute to science by helping researchers create a real-time snapshot of birdsâ numbers and movement.
From chickadees to condors, the Audubon Guides series of bird apps covers more than 750 species of birds with information on appearance, habitat, behavior, diet, nesting, mating, migration, endangered status, and more.
Several bird apps are now available in the reference section of the apps store in iTunes store. The apps range in price from $6.99 each for the regional guides to the birds of Texas, California, Florida, New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Desert Southwest, to $19.99 for the more comprehensive field guide to North American Birds.
