Flagpole Photographers To Ponder: What Is A 'Sign'?
Flagpole Photographers To Ponder: What Is A âSignâ?
Photos by members of Flagpole Camera Club will judged on the topic of âWhat is a âSignâ?â at the clubâs meeting on Thursday, February 18, at 7:30 pm. The meeting will be at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.
Three judges from neighboring camera clubs will determine which photograph interprets this assigned subject best. A sign can naturally be on a store front, or a traffic sign, an advertising billboard, or perhaps a sign of spring, or any other season, or a sign that something is going to happen, or emotion, perhaps aging or disapproval. Judges will be looking for the creativity and imagination that best tells the âsignâ story.
Following the competition, Karen Kensek of Koenig Art Emporium in Southbury will present a program on mat cutting and presentation. She will also serve as one of the competition judges.
In addition, several members of the Flagpole club recently entered photos in the Greater Lynn (Mass.) International Exhibition. A slide show of the photographs submitted will be shown by Sheila Silvernail, who prepared the photos for the exhibition and the slide show for the members. The Greater Lynn exhibition is in its 34th year and 12 different categories are awarded gold medals. Among the categories are action sports, domestic animals, humor, landscapes, portraits, travel and photojournalism.
Members will also be reminded of the clubâs annual exhibition at the library, coming up this year on April 10-11.
Guests and prospective new members are welcome to attend the meeting, free of charge. Call 203-270-9469 for additional information or visit FlagpolePhotographers.com.
