Sedan Vs Bridge
Motorist Lucyaurea Araujo DeSouza, 28, of Danbury was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant sedan eastward on Botsford Hill Road about 8:10 pm February 10, when the vehicle went out of control in adverse weather conditions and then went off the right side of the road, police said.
The vehicle struck an earthen embankment and then hit the concrete structure of the Housatonic Railroadâs railroad bridge, police said. Botsford firefighters responded to the scene.
DeSouza, and passengers Moises Araujo, 24, and Walter Almeida, 20, both of Danbury, all were transported by Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps staffers to Danbury Hospital, police said.
The accident is under investigation.
Crabapple Lane
Police said they arrested Jason LaMonte, whose age they listed as 19, of 67 Osborn Hill Road in connection with an incident that occurred about 6:19 pm on February 10 on Crabapple Lane.
Police said LaMonte allegedly brandished a knife to a juvenile during an altercation there. Police charged LaMonte with breach of peace, threatening, and risk of injury to a minor.
After processing, police released LaMonte on a written promise to appear February 24 in Danbury Superior Court.
Obtuse Road
Motorist Jorge W. Gonzalez-Araujo, 48, of Danbury, who was driving a 1996 Mazda Protégé sedan northward near 8 Obtuse Road about 4:23 am February 11, skidded on the snowy roadway, struck a mailbox and then hit a guy wire that was supporting a utility pole, police said.
The collision resulted in an electric service line for a nearby house falling onto the street, police said. Gonzalez-Araujo was not injured. Hawleyville firefighters responded to the accident.
Police issued Gonzalez-Araujo an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions and for driving without a license.
Sandy Hook Accident
About 5:47 pm February 2, motorist Laura Miller, 41, of Osborn Hill Road, who was driving a 1998 Lexus sedan eastward near a traffic signal near 33 Berkshire Road (Route 34), struck the rear end of an eastbound 2002 Toyota coupe driven by Angel Muniz, 25, of Monroe, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Miller a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
